Waiting on Wednesday- Tinsel and Terriers- Cressida McLaughlin

This week I'm Waiting on Wednesday for Tinsel and Terriers by Cressida McLaughlin.  I've been blown away by Cressida's relaxed and chatty storytelling in the Primrose Terrace series and this final instalment promises to wrap everything up with neatly folded corners and silky Christmas ribbon.

I can't wait until it's released on October 22nd, published by Harper.

The Blurb

Christmas is coming to Primrose Terrace, Pooch Promenade is doing brilliantly and Cat has made lots of new friends in the street, both dogs and their owners. Life seems good. Things start to go badly when Cat learns something about Mark that she wishes she hadn’t. Then, when one of Ellen’s lovable schnauzers, Chalky, gets ill, it looks like this Christmas could be turning into a dog’s dinner. But Cat has never given up on anything in her life – and this is one Christmas that’s definitely worth saving…

Tinsel and Terriers is the fourth and final part of a serialized novel told in four parts – all set in Primrose Terrace.

Waiting on Wednesday- The Little Bookshop on the Seine- Rebecca Raisin

I absolutely adore Rebecca Raisin's books and her next offering The Little Bookshop on the Seine looks to be absolutely perfect for a bibliophile like me!  I can't wait to read it, and it's only got a holding cover so far- I can't wait to see the 'real' one!

The Blurb

Bookshop owner Sarah Smith has been offered the opportunity to exchange bookshops with her new Parisian friend for 6 months! And saying yes is a no-brainer – after all, what kind of a romantic would turn down a trip to Paris?

Even if it does mean leaving the irresistible Ridge Warner behind, Sarah’s sure she’s in for the holiday of a lifetime – complete with all the books she can read!

Picturing days wandering around Shakespeare & Co, munching on croissants, sipping café au laits and people-watching on the Champs-Élysées Sarah boards the plane. But will her dream of a Parisian Happily-Ever-After come true? Or will Sarah realise that the dream isn’t quite as rosy in reality…

The Little Bookshop on the Seine is due to be published on October 16th by Carina UK.

Waiting on Wednesday- A Merry Mistletoe Wedding- Judy Astley

It's been a while since I've read a Judy Astley book, but I love the look of this one!  Christmas and weddings are two of my favourite things, and combined it's enough to make my little heart whoop with joy.  I'm looking forward to reading this one closer to Christmas, but it's released on October 8th, published by Transworld.

The Blurb
It is almost a year since Sean and Thea met and it's been a roller-coaster ride: they're getting married on Christmas Day!

But before they know it, things begin to get complicated. Trying to manage a long-distance relationship in the build-up to their Christmas wedding is one thing, but as one challenge after another comes their way, the happy couple begin to wonder if they'll ever make it down the aisle . . .

With unforgettable characters, charming romance and lots of laughter, A Merry Mistletoe Wedding is a gorgeous Christmas read - perfect for fans of Carole Matthews, Jenny Colgan, Lucy Diamond and Milly Johnson.

Waiting on Wednesday- Lily and the Christmas Wish- Keris Stainton

As it's Hot Key Books week on my blog, I had to choose one of their upcoming releases as my Waiting on Wednesday!  I love Christmassy books and Lily and the Christmas Wish looks like the perfect heart-warming seasonal read.

The Blurb

When a town's Christmas wishes get mixed-up, can one little girl and her dog put them right? The little town of Beechwood can't wait for Christmas this year. They're going to celebrate by putting up a giant Christmas tree in the town square, and asking all the townspeople to hang a Christmas wish on its branches. Everyone is feeling very festive - everyone except for nine-year-old Lily. She's only got one thing she wants for Christmas this year, and she's not sure it can ever come true. But she's determined to try - and so when she sees a shooting star just as she hangs her wish, she wishes as hard as she possibly can...and wakes up the next morning to a bit of a surprise. Bug, her adorable pug puppy, can talk! It's magic - and a wish come true! But it's not Lily's wish...Lily and her little brother James soon discover that something happened last night at the wishing tree - the wishes have been granted, but to the wrong people! They'll have to work out which wish belongs to who, and sort everything out before Christmas Day - otherwise no one will get what they want for Christmas.

Lily and the Christmas Wish is released on November 5th, published by Hot Key Books.

Waiting on Wednesday : List of the Lost- Morrissey

I'm hugely excited about Morrissey's first fiction book and was thrilled today when I was emailed this information about it from a publicist at Penguin.  Normally I'm incredibly patient, but I'm seriously hoping I get to read this as an ARC - bookblogger, Morrissey fanatic, hipster- come on, I tick all the boxes!  However, if I have to wait until 24th September it'll be out just in time for my birthday, and it'd make a pretty good present...

List of the Lost
Morrissey
to be published by Penguin Books on 24 September 2015 at £7.99

Penguin Books is delighted to announce the forthcoming publication of List of the Lost, Morrissey’s extraordinary novel, on 24 September.

‘Beware of the novelist … intimate and indiscreet … pompous, prophetic airs … here is the fact of the fiction … an American tale where, naturally, evil conquers good, and none live happily ever after, for the complicated pangs of the empty experiences of flesh-and-blood human figures are the reasons why nothing can ever be enough. To read a book is to let a root sink down. List of the lost is the reality of what is true battling against what is permitted to be true’ – Morrissey

Morrissey’s record-breaking bestseller, Autobiography, was published by Penguin Classics in October 2013.

Waiting on Wednesday- Every Time a Bell Rings - Carmel Harrington

This is a Waiting on Wednesday first for me- there's not even a temporary cover for the book I've chosen yet, so I've used a still from the film it's inspired by!  As it's the #HIReadathon, I decided to go for a Harper Impulse book.  I love a festive read and am already excited about my annual Advent-ures in Fiction feature that runs here on Books with Bunny throughout December- and one I'll definitely be including is Carmel Harrington's Every Time a Bell Rings.

The Blurb

An angel gets its wings…

Belle has taken all the Christmas decorations down. This year they won’t be celebrating.
As foster parents, Belle and Jim have given many children the chance of a happier start in life. They’ve loved them as if they were their own. They shouldn’t have favourites but little Lauren has touched their hearts. And now her mother is well enough to take her back and Belle can’t bear the loss.

Hence, Christmas is cancelled.

So when Jim crashes his car one icy December night, after an argument about Lauren, Belle can only blame herself. Everything she loves is lost. And Belle finds herself standing on The Ha’Penny Bridge wishing she had never been born.

But what happens to a Christmas wish when an angel is listening…

Will Belle realise, before it’s too late, that her life is the most wonderful life of all?

Inspired by the timeless tale of beloved Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, Carmel Harrington’s next book tells the story of Belle, a young woman and foster carer from Dublin who faces the hardest decision of her life this Christmas on The Ha’Penny Bridge.

Full of Irish charm, magic, and the warmth of the festive season this is an emotional, heartwarming story that will stay with you long after you’ve reached ‘The End’. Perfect for fans of Cecelia Ahern & Jojo Moyes.

Every Time a Bell Rings is due for release on 15th October 2015, published by Harper Impulse.

Waiting on Wednesday- On the Other Side- Carrie Hope Fletcher

I admit it.  I'm a fangirl for Carrie.  I read and loved All I Know Now and actually let an audible squeak of delight escape from my lips when I heard her next book was going to be fiction.  I can't wait to see how her voice will develop as she takes this step into novel writing, and wish it wasn't such an incredibly long wait...

But I keep reminding myself, all good things are worth waiting for, and I'm sure On the Other Side will be fantabulous!

The Blurb

Your soul is too heavy to pass through this door,

Leave the weight of the world in the world from before

Evie Snow is eighty-two when she quietly passes away in her sleep, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. It's the way most people wish to leave the world but when Evie reaches the door of her own private heaven, she finds that she's become her twenty-seven-year-old self and the door won't open.

Evie's soul must be light enough to pass through so she needs to get rid of whatever is making her soul heavy. For Evie, this means unburdening herself of the three secrets that have weighed her down for over fifty years, so she must find a way to reveal them before it's too late. As Evie begins the journey of a lifetime, she learns more about life and love than she ever thought possible, and somehow, some way, she may also find her way back to her long lost love . . .

On the Other Side will transport you to a world that is impossible to forget. Powerful, magical and utterly romantic, this is a love story like no other from everyone's favourite 'big sister', Carrie Hope Fletcher.

On the Other Side is due for release 14th July 2016, published by Sphere.

Waiting on Wednesday- Carry On- Rainbow Rowell

I love Rainbow Rowell.  Her writing is so wonderfully readable, she's not afraid to explore topics outside the ordinary and from following her on twitter I've discovered she's a proper, fully-fledged fangirl.  This all appeals to me.

I've loved her other releases and ran a Rainbow Rowell week on Books with Bunny last year, but I cannot wait for Carry On.   Can't it be October 8th already?

The Blurb
Simon Snow just wants to relax and savour his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he'll be safe. Simon can't even enjoy the fact that his room-mate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can't stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you're the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savour anything.

Based on the characters Simon and Baz who featured in Rainbow Rowell's bestselling Fangirl, Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story - but far, far more monsters.

Carry On is released on October 8th 2015, published by Macmillan Children's Books.

Waiting on Wednesday...I Knew You Were Trouble- Paige Toon

Is it really Wednesday again already?! It must be time for Waiting on Wednesday...

Having read and loved The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson last year, I am jigging about like an excited bumblebee for the next instalment! Paige Toon has a loyal fan base for her women's fiction titles, but she's now building a name for herself as an author of YA too.  I love the bright, summery cover-so very different to the first Jessie book, but equally as eye catching.

I can't wait to read this one, it feels like I've been waiting for it for AGES!

The Blurb

Life as the undercover daughter of a rock god isn't going to be easy. How will Jessie adjust to her old boring life again after spending her summer living it up with her dad in LA? With tough decisions ahead (and not just choosing between two hot boys), can she cope juggling her two very different lives?

Summer may be over, but Jessie's story is just beginning…

I Knew You Were Trouble is released on 30th July 2015 and available for preorder now.

Waiting on Wednesday...Dream A Little Dream- Giovanna Fletcher

It's that time again- Waiting on Wednesday, the meme created by Breaking the Spine where bloggers share their excitement for forthcoming releases!

Today I'm shouting about Giovanna Fletcher's summer release Dream a Little Dream.  Last year I devoured You're The One That I Want and Billy and Me- both were engaging, romantic reads that made me fall just a little bit in love with Giovanna Fletcher's writing.  Her summer release sounds like a perfect summer novel for whiling away the days, and I'm likely to be reading this as soon as my preorder flashes up on my kindle!

Even the cover is beautifully summery and cheery!

The Blurb

The new gorgeously romantic novel from bestselling author of Billy and Me and You're the One That I Want, Giovanna Fletcher.

Sarah is doing just fine. Sure she's been single for the last five years, and has to spend an uncomfortable amount of time around her ex-boyfriend, his perfect new girlfriend and all their mutual friends. And yes, her job as a PA to one of the most disgusting men in London is mind-numbingly tedious and her career is a constant disappointment to her mother. But it's really okay. She's happy (ish).

But it's not surprising that when Sarah starts dreaming about a handsome stranger, she begins to look forward to falling asleep every night. Reality isn't nearly as exciting. That is until her dream-stranger makes an unexpected real-life appearance, leaving Sarah questioning everything she thought she wanted.

Because no one ever really finds the person of their dreams... do they?

Dream a little Dream is released on June 18th 2015, published by Penguin.

Waiting on Wednesday...The Girls- Lisa Jewell

I love Lisa Jewell.  She writes the most vivid characters out there who always capture my heart.  Add to that a magical way with words that few authors can rival, and that is why, this week The Girls is my choice for Waiting on Wednesday, the weekly meme thought up by Breaking the Spine.

I've loved watching Lisa's writing develop over many years now, and this sounds like a darker, more psychological novel than her previous releases.  I can't wait to read it!

The Blurb

Dark secrets, a devastating mystery and the games people play: the gripping new novel from the bestselling author of The House We Grew Up In and The Third Wife.

You live on a picturesque communal garden square, an oasis in urban London where your children run free, in and out of other people’s houses.

You’ve known your neighbours for years and you trust them. Implicitly.

You think your children are safe.

But are they really?

Midsummer night: a thirteen-year-old girl is found unconscious in a dark corner of the garden square. What really happened to her? And who is responsible?

Utterly believable characters, a gripping story and a dark secret buried at its core: this is Lisa Jewell at her heart-stopping best.

The Girls is released on 2nd July 2015, published by Century.  Ebook and hardback preorders are now being taken.

Waiting on Wednesday...Somewhere Only We Know- Erin Lawless

This is my first ever Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly feature created by Breaking the Spine.  It's the perfect opportunity to share excitement about upcoming releases!

My first choice is Somewhere Only We Know by Erin Lawless.  I loved Erin's last book The Best Thing I Never Had and it's felt like a long wait for this next release!

The Blurb

‘Engaging modern day romantic fiction, that will make you smile all the way through.’ – Bestselling Irish author Carmel Harrington

Boy meets girl…

Alex Bradley can't help but feel that life is rather passing him by. And not just life – promotions, invitations, romance; the girl he loves only has eyes for his flatmate and his 9-5 job as the Immigration department skivvy is slowly numbing his soul. Until he meets Nadia.

Girl meets boy…

Nadia Osipova is running out of time. With no money, no lawyer and a totally fictitious boyfriend, she’s got one last summer and one last appeal before the British government deport her back to Russia.

Girl gets deported?

It's going to be a bumpy ride, one she's dragging her new friend Alex along for. As Nadia races through a list of all her favourite London adventures, for what may be the last time, Alex can’t help but start to see the city, and his life, through Nadia’s eyes.

From hazy summer days on the Common and heady nights in Soho’s basement bars, to twilight walks along the Southbank, will Alex realise what he’s got before it’s too late?

Funny, addictive and always honest, this is a love letter to London, friendship and the unexpected from the author of the bestselling The Best Thing I Never Had.

Somewhere Only We Know is released in ebook format on June 11th, published by Harper Impulse.
